対話の実験室("Dialogue" Lab) is the initiative to reflect unconscious contexts in our society.
Through this initiative, we try to understand our diversity in the society with feelings.
At the Lab, there is open-end question and the participants answer and share the reason, especially the experience that created their own opinion.
Wake Up Japan usually organizes it in Japanese. But we often organize in it in English because we have the member whose mother tongue is not Japanese.
When we talk about the fair sharing, the other members hope to do it in English.
*Several Members are not fluent in English. This is our trial. If you want to attend, please confirm that.
The topic of next lab is "How should one deal with opposition when fighting for social justice: When fighting for tolerance, should one be tolerant with people who spread hate?"
How should one deal with opposition when fighting for social justice?
In any social movement, there will be moments of confrontation with people and groups who don't necessarily share the same ideas on what constitutes a "fair" society, or on the ways (direct actions, policy, etc.) in which we should try to get closer to it.
As we fight for the voice of everyone ー particularly socially marginalized groups ー to be heard and taken into consideration, some will adopt a more "inclusive" approach of mutual respect for everyone's opinion and stance, whereas others will argue that one shouldn't recognize any kind of discourse that may lead to social exclusion.
Although there is probably no right answer that everyone can agree with, we thought it could be interesting to share different perspectives on the matter through our upcoming Dialogue Lab session.

社会教育団体Wake Up Japanでは、多様な人々が対話する機会をつくることで、お互いの違いや行動背景をストーリー(語り)から共感をもって理解を高めること、分かち合いを通じて一人ひとりが協力しあえる環境を育むこと、そして、多様な人々が共に社会をつくっているという認識を強化することを目的に「対話の実験室」を開催しています。
今回の対話の実験室のトピックは、「ヘイトに対しても寛容であるべき?」です。
普段、日本語で開催している対話の実験室ですが、運営メンバーに母語が非日本語の方もおり、母語以外で社会問題を話し合う機会を日本語話者メンバーももちたいということで英語での開催となりました。 *なお、運営メンバーは必ずしも英語が流暢というわけではありませんので、ご参加の上ではそうした点をご了解の上でお申し込みください。

▼対話とは？
おしゃべりの「会話」、根拠を示す「議論」、勝ち負けを決める「討論」とは異なり、他者との違いを受け止め、自分が変わることを恐れず、考えを深める話し方です。他者との違いが明らかになることによって、新しい気づきや、思ってもみない発想が生まれるかもしれません。

▼対話の実験室とは?
対話すべき、対話が必要とよくいわれますが、実際に対話できているでしょうか。敵か味方かになってしまい、人間関係が壊れるのを恐れて意見を言えなかったり、意見が違うと否定されたと感じたり、人格攻撃で相手を黙らせたり、あるいは黙ってしまうことはないでしょうか。ここではそれらの習慣を越えて対話することに挑戦し、うまくいかなかったとしてもそれを学びにします。
